Delete Your Account

Last updated: October 2026

PathwayCheck is operated by Forward Project Consulting Inc., British Columbia, Canada. This page explains how to permanently delete your PathwayCheck account and the personal information connected to it — what is removed, and the limited, de-identified records we have to keep for legal and accounting reasons. It applies to accounts created on the web (pathwaycheck.ca) and in the PathwayCheck iPhone, iPad and Android apps — it is one account across all of them.

PathwayCheck is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for the Government of Canada, IRCC, or any provincial or territorial government. Creating an account is optional; the questionnaire and a review of your answers are free and do not require one.

How to delete your account

If you can sign in (fastest — immediate and permanent):

  1. On the web, sign in on the Account page.
  2. Choose Delete my account and confirm.

In the iPhone, iPad or Android app, open Account and tap “Manage or delete your account on the web”, which brings you to this deletion flow. Deletion happens on the web so it is always an explicit, confirmed action. We verify you own the account the only way that matters: you are signed in to it. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

If you can’t sign in, email support@pathwaycheck.ca from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. Sending the request from your own account email is how we confirm the account is yours. We action verified requests promptly and confirm to you once your data has been deleted.

What is deleted

When you delete your account, we permanently hard-delete the following from our database — no anonymized “stub” account is kept:

  • Your account, and the email address and name on it.
  • Your sign-in sessions and the sign-in methods linked to the account (email sign-in links and, if you used it, Google sign-in).
  • Your Privacy Policy consent records.
  • Any assessments you saved and your in-progress questionnaire.
  • Any pathways you chose to track, their checklist items, and your notes.
  • Your paid access to results (the record that unlocks your full pathway results).
  • Your notification preferences and any “dismissed update” markers.

You can also get a copy of everything your account holds before you delete it: sign in and choose Download my data (JSON) on the Account page.

What we keep, and why

After your account is deleted, we keep only records we are required to keep for financial, tax and fraud-prevention reasons, and none of them keep you identifiable — each is unlinked from you:

  • A de-identified payment record, only if you made a purchase. If you bought the one-time results unlock on the web, we keep a bookkeeping record of that payment — the payment processor’s reference and the amount — with the link to you removed. After deletion it carries no name, email or account identifier and cannot be traced back to you. We keep it because Canadian tax rules require a business to retain its financial records (generally for about six years), and to prevent payment fraud and duplicate refunds. (If you purchased through the App Store or Google Play, our own copy of that purchase is deleted with your account; Apple and Google keep their own records — see below.)
  • De-identified product-milestone counts. We keep anonymous counts of how often steps like “assessment started” or “results delivered” happen, to understand how the product is used. These are just numbers — no answers, no email, no account identifier — and after deletion they are no longer linked to you.
  • Short-lived database backups. Our database provider keeps a brief point-in-time recovery window so the database can be restored after an incident. Your deleted data ages out of those backups shortly after deletion and is not restored into the live system.

Payment processors keep their own records. If you paid, Stripe (web), Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) keep their own record of the transaction under their own policies. We can’t delete records held on their systems; contact the relevant provider for those.
